北里大学・北里研究所について

Kitasato University was founded in 1962 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Kitasato Institute. We are literally “university of life sciences” with nine faculties, eight graduate schools, three hospitals, two vocational schools, and one research institute, and is the only university in Japan that brings together various academic fields such as agriculture, oceanography, engineering, in addition to medicine.
Kitasato University strives to further improve education, research, and medical care as an international educational and academic research institution that conduct advanced, interdisciplinary, and comprehensive research in life sciences and trains human resources to lead such research.  

北里大学は1962年、北里研究所創立50周年を記念して設立されました。医学に加え、農学、海洋学、工学など多様な学術分野を統合した日本で唯一の大学であり、9学部、8大学院、3病院、2専門学校、1研究所を有する文字通りの「生命科学の大学」です。
北里大学は、生命科学における先進的・学際的・総合的な研究とそれをリードする人材の養成を担う国際的な教育学術研究機関として、教育・研究・医療のさらなる向上に努めています。

The campuses spread throughout the country. The Shirokane Campus is the site of the founding of the Institute as well as its headquarters and each campus boasts rich natural surroundings and the latest in technical facilities. In addition, a stock farm has been established in Hokkaido, in affiliation with the School of Veterinary Medicine, to conduct research into the rearing livestock in a sustainable closed system.

We have concluded academic exchange agreements with a total of 48 universities and research institutes in 20 countries, and we are working hard to improve our level of education and research through mutual exchanges between faculty and students as well as implementing joint research, exchange of academic information and other activities.

世界20か国48の学術機関との間で学術交流協定を結び、教職員や学生の相互交流、共同研究の実施、学術情報の交換などを通じて教育・研究レベルの向上に努めています。

Each of Kitasato University's departments actively engage in international exchange programs, and their educational and research activities are spreading around the world.
本学では、各部門において国際交流が活発に行われており、世界を舞台に教育・研究活動が広がっています。

Kitasato Global Program for Team-based Healthcare Practice is a university-wide program. Involving case studies in English with international students from partner universities abroad, this course aims to educate healthcare professionals with a global perspective who can be active worldwide. Through this program, students exchange their most recent and evidence-based skills and knowledge in healthcare, while also sharing social values from an ethical standpoint across countries. The experience of collaborating beyond different backgrounds, disciplines, languages, and cultures enables them to develop the cultural competency needed to overcome differences and work together effectively as a healthcare team. Students are encouraged to expand their activity in the diverse societal requirements and contribute to their medical and health care. 

国際チーム医療演習は、北里大学がこれまで提供してきた質の高いメディカルスタッフ養成教育であるチーム医療演習をベースに、国際的な感覚に優れ、国内のみならず世界各地で活躍できる医療人を養成することを目的に作られたプログラムです。
また、海外の学生との討議を通じて、それぞれの国における価値観や倫理観について深い理解を得ること、そして異なる専門性、言語や文化をもつ学生同士が、チームとして演習を行う上での工夫を経験することで、医療従事者としてチーム医療を実践していくための技術を身に付けることを目指しています。

Inspired by Dr. KITASATO Shibasaburo’s groundbreaking achievements during his time under Dr. Robert Koch, this symposium has been held jointly by the Robert Koch Institute and the Kitasato Institute every two years since the inaugural meeting in Berlin in August 1990, alternating between Japan and Germany.

本シンポジウムは、北里柴三郎博士がローベルト・コッホ博士のもとで偉業を遂げられたことに因み、由縁のローベルト・コッホ研究所と北里研究所との間で、1990年8月の第１回合同シンポジウムをベルリンで開催して以来、２年毎に日本とドイツで交互に開催しています。

Kitasato University hosts a large number of international researchers and trainees each year, actively advancing research, collaborative projects, and international seminars.
本学では、海外から毎年多数の研究生や実習生などを受け入れ、研究活動や共同研究、国際セミナーを積極的に実施しています。

Louis Pasteur, the founder of the Pasteur Institute, is regarded as a pioneer of modern bacteriology. He demonstrated that infectious diseases are caused by microorganisms and developed vaccines through pathogen attenuation, thereby laying the foundation for preventive immunization.
Dr. KITASATO Shibasaburo, known as the “Father of Japanese Bacteriology” and founder of the Kitasato Institute, visited the Pasteur Institute in France in 1892 on his return from studying in Germany. During this visit, he met Dr. Louis Pasteur and received a photograph bearing Pasteur’s personal message and signature.
In recognition of this historical connection, a joint symposium between the Pasteur Institute and the Kitasato Institute/Kitasato University was held on October 2, 2019.

パスツール研究所の設立者であるルイ・パスツールは近代細菌学の開祖とされ、感染症の原因が微生物であることを発見し、また病原体を弱毒化し接種するワクチンを開発し、予防接種の基礎を築きました。
「日本細菌学の父」として知られ、北里研究所の創立者である北里柴三郎博士は、1892年ドイツ留学からの帰国途上に、フランスのパスツール研究所に立ち寄り、ルイ・パスツール博士と面会し、メッセージとサイン入りの写真を贈られています。
このような縁から、2019年10月2日にパスツール研究所と北里研究所・北里大学の合同シンポジウムを開催しました。
